"At the beginning of Aïkido, you must understand that you are standing between heaven and earth"
Sugano Senseï quoting O'Senseï
Beyont this real physical facts, this quote constitutes a perfect introduction to the two main developmental axis of the Global Inner Aïkido School : Heaven and Earth
These axis are surely integrated in every class given by Sugano Shihan, but the specific approach in our Summer School is to concentrate in the practice of Inner Aïkido (otherwise said : the study of the personal experience while practicing Aïkido).
What is to be understood with Heaven and Earth ?
Heaven - Cognitive Mind and Spirit - Consciousness – Study
By the practice of meditation and concentration techniques, the focussed study of our movements, we develop another perception of Aïkido.
If we only encompass the physical form in our study, we will be limited by our physical capabilities. If we change our way of perceiving the movements and look beyond physical or even beyond “things you can see with your eyes” our practice can evolve and physical experience becomes a way to learn and to develop our art further.
The philosophy of Aïkido is based on O’ Senseï’s philosophy and seeks to develop essential human qualities like respect, consideration to others, generosity, affection and love. Allowing us to be ourselves and to take a rightful place we allow others to do the same reducing the conflicts between human beings.
We contribute therefore to spread Peace and Harmony on Earth.
Earth –Body- Somatic Consciousness – Openness to Others - Friendship
Through the practice of the “Go no Kan” Bokken Patterns, related “So Taï Dosa” and hand techniques we learn to lead the other “attacking” and imprint a rhythm in the resulting movement integrating the energy of both persons involved.
We learn to center ourselves in our body while interacting with the partner. Each movement is a search of balance between Self and Other. This aims the strengthening of the friendship between Aïkido practitioners.
Our Inner Aïkido Seminar include social activities and emphasis the importance of contacts between the members.
We seek to create a strong community oriented School.
